Our seventh annual garage sale was held on Saturday, May 8 and as they say, timing is everything. For the first time, the club rented a venue for the sale- an exhibition hall at ODAS Park  and what a blessing that was. The rain came down and by the number of people coming to our sale, many loyal garage “salers” stayed home in bed. Now that the public knows we have an indoor event, I’m sure we will attract more followers next year.

Our numbers were down but certainly not the enthusiasm of club members. The “pricers” on Friday worked quickly and confidently as  they determined what was worth a quarter and what was worth $50.00. We had very few items left on tables at the end of the day and all unsold items were donated to St. Luke’s at Prices Corners and all unsold books went to St. James for their rectory sale.

The exhibition hall at ODAS Park has been booked for next May so it’s not too early to be thinking of next year’s sale as you sort and downsize. Now that the public knows we have an indoor event, I’m sure we will attract more followers next year.

Our club events are always team efforts and to all of you who donated items, priced items and worked the day of the sale, I extend a sincere thank you.  Over the last seven years our garage sale profit has been $8988.71.  These dollars have supported all programming and administrative costs.

This year’s profit was $1,046.94 , down from last year. This event has many benefits and  it certainly builds camaraderie , friendships and  most definitely, visibility for the club in the community.
