Co-founders of Change Her World
Poverty cannot be eliminated without literacy.
Change Her World, a Canadian charity, has persistently addressed the barriers to education faced by girls in Malawi, Africa – from supplying underwear and reusable sanitary protection to the provision of computers for university students. The charity began with seventy beneficiaries in 2011, growing to two hundred in 2022 with the guidance of co-founders Linda Willis, a former elementary school teacher and Carol Hamilton, a registered nurse psychotherapist and part-time Presbyterian minister.
In 2014, the charity established a nursery school in response to the vital need for pre-school education. The present construction of a community library demonstrates a long-term commitment to meeting the literacy needs of the entire community, thus creating hope for everyone.
